Umrah is a sacred pilgrimage that millions of Muslims undertake throughout the year in the completion of the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SAWW). One can travel for the Umrah rituals anytime i.e., what best suits his/her availability, needs, and budget. Now, with the introduction of the Tawakkalna app, the reliance of pilgrims on Umrah travel agents has been also minimized to a large extent.
In order to streamline the process for Umrah travel, the Saudi Authorities have introduced an app called ‘Tawakkalna’. Pilgrims traveling through Umrah packages from UK and from across the globe can utilize this mobile application for their Umrah booking with all of the procedures included in the process.
Umrah booking via Tawakkalna app
In recent times, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah of Saudia Arabia has made it mandatory for all foreign pilgrims to book their Umrah in order to get permits and appointments only through the Tawakkalna mobile application.
The types of permits that a pilgrim can get through this app are numerous. For instance;
1. The permit to pray in Masjid al-Haram of Makkah.
2. The appointment to offer prayers in the Riyaz-ul-Jannah (for men).
3. The permit to pray in the Riaz-ul-Jannah (for women).
4. Permit for men to visit the Roza-e-Rasool (SAWW).
5. Permit for women to visit the Roza-e-Rasool (SAWW), etc.
Furthermore, the Tawakkalna app also lets the pilgrims choose the time and date for their Umrah travel as per their convenience. Whether they want to travel during the busy month of Ramadan or any other month of the year, it is completely up to one’s personal preference.
However, the price for obtaining an Umrah permit would be affected by such factors i.e., the demand for it during crowded times as well as during the off-season. This is because of the security protocols to limit the number of pilgrims to a manageable level for the authorities.
How to book your umrah via Tawakkalna app?
• Download the Tawakkalna application on your mobile. This app is available for iOS as well as Android mobiles.
• Only Individuals who are aged 18 or above can register on the Tawakkalna app in order to get a permit.
• Open the application on your mobile phone.
• Click on the ‘services’ option.
• Go to the ‘issuing the permit’ tab and proceed to enter the information like;
o Your personal details.
o The date and time of your travel.
o City of arrival, etc.
• The permit will be issued after paying the transportation fee of 20 SAR (or 4.4 GBP) per pilgrim. This fee can either be paid before or within two hours of booking your appointment through the Tawakkalna app.
• If you want to reissue your Umrah permit, it can only be done after a gap of 14 days of performing your first Umrah.
Entering the holy places without a valid permit
If a pilgrim enters the holy places without possessing a valid permit for it, hefty fines are levied on such visitors. In some cases, legal prosecutions might also occur. So be mindful of that.
