The Everest base camp trekking is a famous 12-day mountain journey, which takes you to the bottom of the world's highest mountain Everest. It takes eight days to reach the base camp from Kathmandu including two rest days on the way up in Namche Bazaar and Dingboche. You will hike to the hotel Everest to view Syangboche from Namche Bazaar and the NangkaTsang hill from Dingboche for acclimatization before you visit the higher elevations during the trekking.
The trip begins with a scenic adventurous short mountain flight to Lukla from Kathmandu or Ramechhap. You need to drive for around 4 hours to Ramechhap from Kathmandu if you have a flight ticket from Manthali to fly to Lukla. Once you land at the Lukla airport, you start walking on the same day for 3 hours on descending trail to Phakding through beautiful Sherpa villages Chheplung, Thadokoshi, and Ghat. You see Mt.Numbur, Kongde, and Kusum Kangaroo today along the way to Phakding. You can see the white Dudhkoshi river toward the valley lower on your left while you are walking on the trekking trail today.
After spending the first night in Phakding, the trip goes forward to Namche Bazaar on the second day and then you will have one spare day for acclimatization rest on the third day. On the fourth day goes to Tengboche village from Namche and Dingboche is the Next. The Dingboche village is the highest proper Sherpa village, which is not allowed to make a fire for a couple of months in July and August as their culture and traditional beliefs. Then, you trek further to Lobuche and Gorakshep before visiting the base camp of the world's highest mountain.
Kalaatthar is the best viewpoint to see the nearest view of Mount Everest, 360-degree mountain views of the Everest Himalayas, and giant Khumbu glaciers. You start returning through the same way to Lukla in 3 long days of treks before you take the flight back to Kathmandu from this wonderful trekking region. If you have 3 more days with the base camp itinerary, I recommend going to the Gokyo lakes via Cho La pass, which is really worth doing it.
The Base camp trekking in Nepal also can be done in 9 days, which is a short itinerary. You will stay with a regular schedule up to the base camp, and then fly out to Kathmandu on a helicopter direct from Gorakshep after the base camp and Kalapatthar visits. It is perfect for those who have a short time or do not want to use it the same way to return.
Don't you have time for the trek? or Don't you want to trek for many days in the high Himalayan elevations with freezing temperatures? No worries! You still can reach the Everest base camp easily from Kathmandu and enjoy stunning high Himalayan views of the Everest region. A luxurious helicopter flight tour is one of the best options for you. It is a group tour to Everest flying on a helicopter. Are you alone trying to do this tour? Don't worry you can get other people managing by the tour company for you. If you like to make it a private trip, the tour company manages the trip with flexible time for you.
The Gokyo lakes trek is an alternative destination for the base camp because it also takes a similar time frame, but the views are different compared to the EBC. You can see tranquil lakes and more mountains with a bigger shaped Everest from the Gokyo Ri from this trip. You can also see similar views from the Renjo La top while you are on the Gokyo Renjo La trip.
Everest view also known as the Everest panorama trek is the shortest trek in the region, that just goes to Tengboche and then returns. It is a 7-day trek in Nepal. This is the best trip to see the best view of Mt.Ama Dablam and other towering mountains. Likewise, the Everest high passes trekking is the most adventurous trek in the Everest region. It covers three major high hill crosses Kongma La, Cho La, and Renjo La.
I suggest visiting this region in autumn and spring, although you can go on a trek also in winter. It is a cold region, so you must have warm mountain equipment for making any routes trekking in the Everest territory. Compared to autumn and winter, spring is slightly warmer. I recommend having some spare days and then trekking days in Nepal for you. If the weather would be bad and affect the Lukla flight, You can change your dates at any time and do not miss your international flights. If the trekking has been done at a right time, you can do a day tour or hike in Kathmandu.
