The Urbania is the upgrade that most groups don't know about until they ask and once they travel in one, very few go back to a standard Tempo Traveller for long-distance trips.
Here is the practical difference. A standard Tempo Traveller is a dependable, comfortable commercial vehicle air-conditioned, adequate seating, suitable for most routes including hills and plains. The Urbania, manufactured by Force Motors, is specifically engineered as a premium passenger van with wider push-back recliner seats, significantly better suspension, a quieter cabin, improved air conditioning and a more modern interior.
On a long mountain drive- say, Delhi to Manali over 12-13 hours, or the 10-day Amarnath Yatra package- this difference is felt in the body, particularly for passengers over 50. The Urbania reduces fatigue, improves sleep on overnight drives and makes the overall journey significantly more pleasant.
Pricing difference: Urbania is priced at ₹90,000 for the 10-day Amarnath package vs ₹85,000 for a 20 seater Tempo Traveller. For a group of 18 people, that is approximately ₹278 more per person for a premium vehicle on a 10-day trip an extremely strong value proposition.
For elderly pilgrim groups, corporate travel and family holidays, the Urbania is strongly recommended.
