Early evening is spent on a photo tour of the Taj Mahal, starting at Mehtab Bagh, the moonlit garden. It is thought that Shah Jahan created this area so that people might see the Taj on moonlit nights, away from the crazed crowd. The garden complex is located on the left bank of the Yamuna, across from the Taj Mahal. It is a massive square that measures exactly 300 by 300 meters and is perfectly aligned with the Taj Mahal. The agricultural fields and forestry plantations offer a verdant forecourt to the Taj Mahal, which is reflected in the Yamuna. Watch the Taj Mahal’s sunset from this location. After Agra sightseeing, have dinner in a renowned restaurant and then go back to the hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 2: Visit Agra City, then drive three hours to Delhi to catch a flight to Bangaluru
Our driver will pick you up from your hotel at 6 a.m. and take you to the Taj Mahal, where you can see the sunrise. We depart to discover the majestic legacy of the Great Mughals, including a visit to the stunning Taj Mahal (closed on Fridays), one of the Seven Wonders of the World and unquestionably the most lavish manifestation of love ever seen. The Taj Mahal is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. For more than 17 years, 20,000 workers toiled to construct this monument honoring Shah Jahan’s cherished spouse. The abundance of semi-precious and white marble is “undoubtedly the highlight of the tour.”
After that, we have a tour of the magnificent Agra Fort, which is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The imperial capital of the Mughal emperors is enclosed by its 2.5-kilometer-long walls. The stronghold is built of red sandstone. It consists of two exquisite mosques, audience halls like the Diwan-i-Khas, and several fanciful palaces like the Jahangir Palace and the Khas Mahal, both constructed by Shah Jahan.
After your sightseeing, indulge in shopping in Agra. The city is renowned for its exquisite handicrafts, which are crafted from marble and soft stone inlay work. The Mughals were enthusiastic buyers of handicrafts. Empress Nur Jahan developed a genuine interest in zari embroidery and was a skilled artist in her own right. Agra is known for its handicrafts, which include jewelry, carpets, brassware, leather goods, and needlework in addition to inlay work.
