Summer is right around the corner, and that means - among other things - rosé, that pink, light, refreshing variation on white wine which icorporates some of the color from red grapes skins but not enough to qualify as a red wine. And actually, it´s no longer just a summery tipple to enjoy on the patio but a year-round favorite among wine lovers of all ages. And for the right reasons: besides being refreshing, rosé is versatile; can be enjoyed with a variety of foods; and is always available in every wine store.
Rosé is best served chilled, at 50-60 degrees Fahrenheit (10-16 Celsius), and served in a variety of glasses, but one with a tulip shape is ideal for showcasing wine´s aromas and flavors. It can be enjoyed on its own or with a variety of foods, such as light appetizers, salads, and seafood dishes; it´s also a popular choice for brunches and picnics. Don’t forget to pair the wine with food that complements the wine flavors. For example, a light rosé with delicate fruit flavors would go well with a salad or appetizer. A more full-bodied rosé with ripe fruit flavors would pair well with grilled fish or chicken. And remember to remove the wine from the refrigerator about 30 minutes before serving to bring it to room temperature. Do not overchill the wine, as this will mute the flavors, but do serve it in a chilled glass.
And now here are five of the most popular available in both in wine stores and online, along with tips on how to serve and enjoy.
Martin Ray Rose of Pinot Noir
Produced by Martin Ray Winery in southern California´s Santa Cruz mountain this wine from the Pinot Noir grape varietal presents a delicate pink hue and is known for its fresh and vibrant flavors, often showcasing notes of red berries and citrus. This Winery is recognized for its commitment to producing high-quality wines that reflect the character of the grape and the terroir.
Bodegas Muga Rioja Rosado

Moutard Brut Rosé de Cuvaison
Now it´s time for a rosé Champagne, this one produced by Moutard Père & Fils Champagne house. It´s a brut, indicating a dry taste with minimal residual sugar. It incorporates red grape varietals, typically Pinot Noir, resulting in a pink or salmon color. Moutard Brut Rosé de Cuvaison offers elegance and complexity, reflecting the cool climate and chalky soils of the region.
Morét Brealynn Rosé of Pinot Noir
Made by winery named after and run by a female winemaker in California´s Sonoma Valley from 100-percent, it has a light pink color and a nose of fresh strawberries, raspberries, and cherries. The palate is crisp and refreshing, with flavors of red fruit and citrus.
As we mentioned above, rosé wine can be purchased in most wine stores and online wine delivery retailers. When buying rose wine from a wine store, it is imperative to look for quality grapes, and that the wine was produced carefully and deliberately, or you can buy wine online and have it delivered to your door.
