RECOMMENDATIONS FOR YOUR INCA TRAIL

Before the start of the walk (Km.82), we will pass control; where, you will have to present your passport, which has been used to make the reservation of the spaces. All the information must be the same that you provided when making the reservation, since this will be verified at the entrance to the Inca Trail. After verification, you will enter the Inca Trail. In case the information shown does not match, you will not be able to enter (regulation dictated by regulator in Camino Inca). If you have made the reservation of the service with your old passport and then renewed it and, therefore, the passport number has changed; please, get in touch with to be able to modify this information. All this management has to be done before your trip to Peru (at least a week before), therefore, you will have to inform you as soon as you have your new passport. Otherwise, this process of change will have an additional burden and it will be inconvenient to change your passport number at the last minute.


Please pick up the trash that you have generated, and leave them in the trash bin located in each camp. If you generate waste during the trekking process, do not hesitate to hand it to the porter in charge, since it has recycling bags for them.


The bonfires are strictly PROHIBITED by the regulations, because the area is very vulnerable, has suffered numerous fires in previous years and we want to prevent these events from happening again.


It is PROHIBITED to climb the walls of archaeological sites. It is not allowed to collect flowers, game animals or take stones from archaeological sites. These types of actions are punishable.


The route is quite safe, however, you should always follow the guide's instructions and ALWAYS KEEP CARE. There are sections of the road with a width of 3 meters and there are some other sections narrower. Along the way you will find mountains, deep valleys, rivers, etc. This natural place is incredible; if you want to observe you must stop and then continue with the journey


Firearms are prohibited on the walk. In addition, it is forbidden to bring alcoholic beverages, as it is a historic sanctuary and must respect the route and the companions of the expedition. Also, at the time of entry to the Inca Trail 4 Days, you go through a general review, where, these types of items are confiscated.


In case of any emergency, contact, immediately, the guide designated to your group or, on the contrary, communicate it to the workers of the Inca Trail 5 days who are also along the route and can help you in any kind of emergency.


WHAT TO EXPECT DURING THE TREK


A day before your trip, in the Briefing, you will meet the group that will travel, if you chose the General exit. Also, if you preferred the option of private you will meet other tourists in the office. Briefing joins Private and General groups, however, during the walk they go separately.


On the day of the walk you will meet the cook and porters, at the starting point of the walk.


At the start of the walk, you will find many different groups of operating companies, people with different nationalities. According to the regulations, the maximum capacity of people to make theshort Inca Trail is 500 per route, including tourists, guides, cooks and porters. Also, you can meet with other groups in the camps. This means that during the walk you can meet and talk with people from different groups.


In the walk, not all visitors have the same physical conditions. Some people walk faster than others. In this sense, the guide will always be on the lookout for the last person in the group, so that he can move forward quickly and do not lose sight of the group.


The porters, will be responsible for carrying all the logistics required for the walk. Yes, you are in a general walk, you can hire as an additional Personal Porter, additional to the one provided, to carry your personal items, they can carry between 8 to 15 kilos (depending on the previous requirement of the passenger). The porters become heroes for all the tourists who make this trek. On the other hand, the cooks are the other heroes of this spectacular walk. With all dexterity they prepare exquisite dishes among mountains, without the ease and comfort that a city can offer you.
Along the route, you will be able to meet with Salkantay Inca Trail 6 Days personnel. They are state personnel that are dedicated to the supervision, surveillance and safety of the route. In case of any emergency, they are willing to help any incident.


You will find the local people, especially during the first and second day. They live in the surroundings of the area and work in agriculture.
