Quebec held the biggest draw of the year on September 24th, inviting 365 candidates for permanent residence selection.
This draw was concluded through an EOI system on Arrima portal. Arrima portal manages applications for Quebec’s Regular Skilled Worker Programs.
Minister of Immigration, Francization, and Integration invited people based on the specific criteria.
The first group of people needed a valid employment offer in the province to be eligible for the invitation.
The second group of people were staying in Quebec as a consultation officer, a diplomate or any intergovernmental organization that carries out operations in Quebec. Members of staffs of any such officials were also included as per section 26 of the Quebec Immigration Regulation.
The third group of people were selected based on the Minister’s opinion of which individual could contribute to the province’s prosperity.
The exact count of invites sent from each criterion were not specified.
Quebec Immigration
Quebec province has more power over its immigration then any other. The government of Quebec selects economic class immigrants from skilled workers and entrepreneurs.
A Quebec Selection Certificate (CSQ) is issued by MIFI. MIFI handles this entire immigration process.
The people who receive CSQ can then apply for permanent residency.
CSQ can be issued to a lot of people from Regular Skilled Worker Program, Quebec Experience Program, Quebec Self Employed Person Program or Quebec Entrepreneur Program.
Working with Arrima
Arrima is used to submit an expression of interest to the MIFI. People applying through RSWP use the online portal to submit their EOI.
This process is free and available for everyone aging 18 years or older around the year.
Candidates create an Arrima profile and expression of interest is created. Until they are invited, the candidates can always update their profile.
Selected profiled are then invited and they have to satisfy certain cut of scores based on a point grid.
A candidate can apply for the CSQ until 90th day from when the invitation is issued. The applications are processed using the Mon Projet Quebec application management system. MIFI issues a complete list of the required documents and after receiving all of them, the review process begins.
Some applicants are invited to verify the information provided in their application.
