National tiger conservation authority of India grant Rs.6 crore and 40 lakhs for the betterment the live of Villagers of Jim Corbett national park. The fund will be invested to sprucing up the security and to facilitating the villagers who depends on the forest for the development of their lively hood. As the first installment of this grant the authority already realized Rs. 3 crore.
With 9.4 tiger in 100 sq kms, Jim Corbett National Park has the highest tiger density in India, as according to the latest tiger census. The latest figure shows that the national park has more than 200 tigers but due to increasing population pressure and poaching threat have continued to pose challenges. The officials confirmed that the grant will be used to boost patrolling, to update staffs with arms and other necessary equipment and for generating new livelihood opportunity for the villagers who depends on the national park for their livelihood.
It is heard that the authority is drafting a patrolling calendar which will be followed by the Tiger Protection Force and ex- service men that will also patrolling in Jim Corbett Park. The department will procure field fear, night vision equipment, arms and navigational instruments.
