ExCel London

ExCel London is an exhibition centre where there are many events, conferences, and conventions held on every day of the year. It’s located on the northern side of the Royal Victoria Dock in the London Docklands. You can find the location between the London City Airport and the Canary Wharf. You can easily reach the ExCel by the Elizabeth Line and the Prince Regent Station.

Excel first opened in 2008. While the docks are now closed to commercial shipping traffic, there are boating events held here, including the London Boat Show

Canary Wharf

Canary Wharf is not only in reference to the water docks but also to a business district. There are many commercial and entertainment businesses here, as well as some residential buildings. This is one of the most important financial centres of the UK and the EU. The wharf used to be a part of the Port of London but today the docks are only used for pleasure craft.

Canary Wharf is also the location of some of the tallest buildings in Europe. The tallest building is at One Canada Square, built in 1991. The next two in height are also located at 8 and 25 Canada Square.

Besides booking a boat tour, you can also head to the public library or one of the shopping malls located here. There are two cinemas here. All major public transportation stops in Canary Wharf, including train, bus, and tube.

The Crystal

The Crystal is an unusually shaped building much like a big ship but without the masts. It’s located on the Royal Victoria Dock in eastern London. Inside is a permanent exhibition about sustainability. The building utilizes solar power and bioenergy to create its own energy sources.

The exhibitions inside display many sustainable building technologies. They utilize a new tech called KNX, and even the building’s control devices are all connected to this protocol. The blinds, windows, heating, and lighting can all be controlled through one central remote control unit or computer. Within the building are over 2500 KNX connected devices, the only building in the world of its kind with such a large network.
