There's no shortage of places these days for a perfect beach wedding. But for romance and exoticism, few can match tying the knot (literally) in a flower crown barefoot on a warm sand beach, with a Tahitian priest, a conch blower, dancers and romantic Polynesian music. The traditional wedding ceremonies held on Bora Bora and all the Tahitian islands is a celebration of joy and love. It includes a hand-holding blessing ceremony, exchange of flowers crowns and leis, and being wrapped in a tifaifai

How beautiful to imagine yourself in a camp locates in a glorious camp surrounded by beautiful environs. Singing and romancing on cold nights sitting around the fireside, staring on the stars in silent surroundings listening to the sounds of little creatures, basking on the lavish mattress, all that makes you dream to discover what camping in the glorious destinations of the world means. Morocco was the first place where I got the idea to experience the difference of international "glamping" -

As September ‘19 edged towards October, the fam and I had an open weekend, and we wanted to see if we could squeeze in one last blast of summer (OK, make that post-summer) at the Jersey shore.

The weather was supposed to be clear, bright, and in the high 70s Fahrenheit with zero humidity during the time that we were planning our jaunt, so the universe was telling us that this getaway idea was a good one.

We have a special affinity for Long Beach Island, which is an 18-mile-long, north-south stre

Dank chill, drizzle, and streetlamps shrouded in fog are bad weather? A bad time for touring? Depends! In fact, they were just perfect for a nocturnal outing I had in Barcelona last winter that was hair raising – in a good way. And what better day than Halloween to tell you about it?

Like most ancient cities, Catalonia’s capital is chock-full full of history, legends – and ghosts. And if that kind of thing gets your ecoplasm going, th

Two hours' drive east from Montevideo and a little over an hour from Punta del Este lies a stretch of coast some 180 kilometres (112 miles) long that's been the secret of a few in-the-know Uruguayans and fewer neighboring Argentines, and even fewer other foreign visitors - with wild sand dunes, little villages, sea-lion colonies, whale watching (October and November), and unspoilt white-sand beaches such as Punta del Diablo, Cabo Polonia, Santa Teresa (top), and La Palo

Glendalough: Ireland's Valley of the Two Lakes

9009400862?profile=original

Toward the end of the 6th century CE, a small group of Irish monks led by Saint Kevin, who had previously lived there as a hermit, founded the Christian monastery at Glendalough, in what is now County Wicklow. The settlement grew and thrived, despite Viking raids, for the next six centuries, becoming eventually absorbed into the Dublin diocese. Apart from St Kevin, the most influential Abbot of Glendalough was St Lorcan (Laurence) O’ Toole (1118 - 1180), who became Archbishop of Dublin.

The tiny Arab country of Lebanon (not even three-quarters the size of the U.S. state of Connecticut) on the Mediterranean bordering Jordan, Syria, and Israel, has been in the news this week thanks to universal street protests - peaceful and held in a festive atmosphere - aimed at getting its corrupt ruling politicians to step down. Additionally, the little many Westerners have known about this country is outdated, from when it was convulsed from 1975 to 1990 by a brutal civil war

Costa Rica is famous among other things for for its Caribbean and especially Pacific beaches. And the place that started the beach-tourism boom back in the 1980s - because it was closest to capital San José, about an hour and a half drive away on the central Pacific coast  - is still one of the most popular. A town of around 10,000, bustling Jacó is centred around a 2½-mile volcanic-black-sand beach popular with bathers and surfers alike, and as the country's most dev

Wowed by the Waterfalls of Iceland

9009410501?profile=original
There seems to be a waterfall around every corner in Iceland, but on our recent cruise port call we saw only a few of them. Even then, it could be argued that we didn’t see the best of them, but we probably saw the best known. Even as we sailed into Seydisfjordur, we were flanked on both sides by the steep banks of the fjord - and down those banks cascaded waterfalls. We were particularly struck by one, which divided into a twin fall, leaving a sort of island perched on the hillside.

But falls s
