Everest Base Camp-The Most Famous Mountain Destination in Nepal

Everest Base Camp Trek is the most famous mountain destination for adventure mountain travelers in Nepal and the world. There are hundreds of adventure trekkers on this trail every day during the high trekking season. It is a 12-day trip from Kathmandu to Kathmandu, which begins with a short flight to Lukla from Kathmandu or Ramechhap.

Magnificent views of high snow-capped mountains, green hills, waterfalls, rivers, wildlife, cultural monuments, traditional Sherpa villages, captivating landscapes, charming valleys, and more attractions are on the Everest Base Camp Trekking route, so you will love this adventure trip in Nepal.

Right after landing at Lukla Airport, you start walking toward Phakding. You will issue a Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality entry permit in Lukla and walk through Chheplung, Thadokoshi, and Ghat Villages. You will see pristine views of Kusum Kangaroo, Dudh Kunda, and Kongde peaks with the Dudhkoshi River valley and green hills while walking to Phakding. It is a short walking day, so you walk for around three hours today.

After the first night's stay in Phakding, you trek to Namche Bazaar on the second day and take an altitude practice rest in Namche Bazaar on the third day. You will hike to Hotel Everest View during the acclimatization rest and hike back to Namche Bazaar. After acclimatizing, you trek to Tengboche on the fourth day, where you visit an ancient historical Buddhist monastery and join regular worship with the monks in the evening. Tengboche is located on a hill station, so you can see magnificent views of Mt. Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Khangteka, Lhotse, Nuptse, Everest, and many other high mountains.

From Tengboche, you trek to Dingboche on the fifth day. You will be above the tree line today and see open views every moment. On the sixth day, you will have the second altitude practice rest in Dingboche and hike up to Nangkartsang Hill.

After being well acclimatized in Dingboche, you walk to Lobuche via Thukla. You will see so many memorial Chortens on the top of Thukla Pass today and walk on the flat part for around an hour to Lobuche on the eighth day.

The ninth day is the most important because you will visit Everest Base Camp. You start walking early in the morning from Lubuche compared to the other trekking days during the Everet Base Camp Trek to Gorakshep. You will walk on the Khumbu Glacier before reaching Gorakshep today. You will have a quick lunch in Gorak Shep and hike to Everest Base Camp. After visiting the base camp, you hike back to Gorakshep to stay because there are no trekking lodges at the base camp.

On the ninth morning, you hike to Kala Patthar. You see pristine 360° Everest Himalayan views from Kala Patthar and the nearest look of the world’s highest mountain, Everest. Then, you hike back to Gorakshep, have breakfast, and trek back to Pheriche through Lobuche and Thukla.

On the tenth day, you will return to Namche Bazaar from Pheriche via Pangboche and Tengboche. Then, you trek back to Lukla on the eleventh day and stay overnight. On the twelfth day, you fly out in the morning to Kathmandu or Ramechhap. If you do not have enough time to complete the regular 12-day Everest Base Camp Trek Itinerary or do not like to trek back on the same trail, you can fly directly to Kathmandu from Gorakshep, which is the Everest Base Camp Helicopter Return Trek.
