Everest Base Camp Helicopter Return Trek Overview

The Everest Base Camp Helicopter Return Trek is becoming so popular. Going towards the base camp and returning is the same route from Lukla to Lukla. Watching the same scenery pass already on the way up could be boring for some trekkers. So, the Helicopter Return Trek is the best option for those trekkers.

Trekkers need at least two weeks or a few days of long holidays for a regular Lukla-Everest base camp trek. The Common Base Camp Trek starts with a short flight to Lukla and ends with flying back on a plane from Lukla. But the Helicopter Return Trek ends with flying out to Kathmandu on a helicopter from Gorakshep after visiting the base camp and Kala Patthar.

If you don’t want to recapture the same views on the way back, you can choose a Heli Return Trek. Frolic Adventure is here to manage your trip to Everest Base Camp and fly back to Kathmandu on a helicopter. You can go through the provided itinerary or send us your time frame.

A Regular Everest Base Camp trek is longer than a flying-back trip. There are some differences, but both treks provide the same views. The Lukla to Everest base camp journey is 12 days, and flying back by helicopter is a 9-day Base Camp Tour.

The scenery on the trek, the walking trail until the base camp, and the trekking starting point are the same for both trekking packages. But you don’t need to walk back to Lukla after visiting the base camp and Kala Patthar and end the trek with a Helicopter Flyback to Kathmandu.

A helicopter flight is more expensive than a Lukla flight. So, flying back from the EBC Trek is more costly than Nepal’s regular base camp trek. Trekking equipment, things to explore, and other beauties are the same for both trekking packages.

The goodness of the trip is that you might get tired by visiting the world’s highest mountain base camp and stunning viewpoint, Kala Patthar. High altitude makes people very tired because of the very thin oxygen in the air. Lots of trekkers think that we have seen all the beauties of the Everest region, so there is no point in walking the same way back with the same views, and they like to fly out from Gorakshep directly to Kathmandu.

The Helicopter Flight Back from the Everest Base Camp Trek begins with a short scenic flight to Lukla as part of the Lukla to EBC trek. After landing at Lukla airport, the trails go to Phakding on the first day. Before crossing this town, you will need a rural municipality entry permit in Lukla.

Reaching the base camp takes 8 days of walking, including 2 rest days in Namche and Dingboche. You will pass beautiful Sherpa towns like Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, Pangboche, Dingboche, and Lobuche while you walk toward the foot of the world's tallest mountain. The last available lodge on the trek is in Gorakshep. You will spend the night here, hike to the Base Camp, Kalapatthar, and then take a Helicopter ride back to Kathmandu.

After enjoying the 3600-meter mountain view of Everest Himalaya and the closest view of Mt. Everest from Kala Patthar, the trip ends with a scenic Helicopter return flight.
