The nearest hiking trail to Kathmandu, the Chisapani Nagarkot trek offers a close glimpse of the pristine Himalayan peaks amidst the fresh environment, away from the dust and crowds of the city. This can be a wonderful experience for trekkers with a short time in hand. A 3-day hike near Kathmandu, the Chisapani Nagarkot hike is also known as Sundarijal, Chisopani, and Nagarkot, or Chisapani Nagarkot Trek. Although a short trek, the Chisapani Nagarkot trek assimilates the flavors of both a natural and adventurous getaway.

The 6-day trip begins in Kathmandu. Followed by a cultural tour of Boudhanath, you’ll drive to Sundarijal to begin the trek. Sundarijal Chisapani Nagarkot Trek is undertaken on the outskirts of Kathmandu city. The initial hike follows the forested route from Sundarijal towards Chisapani village. You’ll pass through the lush forested areas of Shivapuri National Park and witness some of the ethnic settlements in the area. From Chisapani, you’ll make your way towards Nagarkot. You may witness rich oak and rhododendron forests on the trail. Nagarkot is a popular hill station located just outside Kathmandu city. A popular getaway for both local and foreign tourists, it offers some of the magnificent scenery of the Himalayas, including Everest (8848m), Ganesh Himal (7422m), Gaurishankar Himal (7134m), Dorje Lakpa (6966m), and Langtang massif. In the morning, you can enjoy the breathtaking sunrise from the local watchtower at Nagarkot.

Afterward, you’ll drive towards Bhaktapur Durbar Square, home to age-old palaces and temples dating back over 500 years. You will also witness the greater architecture, culture, and art of the Newar tribe of Bhaktapur before driving back to your hotel. The trip concedes to Kathmandu. Chisapani Nagarkot hiking can be accessed throughout the year. However, the spring (March–June) and autumn (September–November) seasons guarantee the best weather and visibility.
