3 Travel Apps to India that Work Offline

Oftentimes when we travel outside of the country we have no Wi-Fi connection or do not want to use expensive routing charges for a 3G connection. This is why we may look for apps that have offline capabilities like the ability to see landmarks and maps in an offline mode. Some of us may want to use these apps even while on the plane traveling to our destination.

India is a wonderful country with a rich history and a huge population. There are many places of interest and cities to visit all with monuments and sights that are truly mind blowing. Here I've listed three travel apps I used in my trip to India this year. They might help your travel as well if you can’t always be connected online.

1. iTajPlus (App Store Link)

This app offers offline maps so you can see various travel destinations and places of interest in the city of Agra. This is the city of the Taj Mahal. It also features audio tours and one-day or two-day guides that will plan out your stay within the city. Everything besides GPS tracking will work offline. This includes the one-day or two-day tour guides, audio guides, shopping tips, tips on sights to see, and restaurant tips. There are many other features and expert tips that will help you on your journey to the city of the Taj Mahal.

2. Mumbai Offline Map & Guide (App Store Link)

Another app worth considering with offline capabilities is the Mumbai Offline Map & Guide. It focuses on Mumbai, which is the most populous city in India and one of the top five most populous cities in the world. It comes with a travel guide and various maps that will help you explore this famous city. It features tips on where and what to eat in the city, where to go for a drink, where to spend the night and many other tips. It also comes with points of interest. A subway and metro map, an image gallery and offline routing are other features you can look forward to. Offline routing will calculate the directions from one place to another without the use of GSP or an online connection.

3. Delhi Offline Map Travel Guide (App Store Link)

Do you plan on checking out the capital city of India? If you do plan on going to New Delhi, check out the Delhi Offline Map Travel Guide on the App Store. It comes with both online and strong offline capabilities and will help you navigate the city. It features tips on what landmarks, museums, beaches, and places of interest you should check out in New Delhi. It also comes with practical tips on what hospitals, ATM machines, gas stations, and banks are available in your area as you travel the city. Some of the app’s features require online connectivity, but most do not. It is worth checking out if you plan on visiting India’s famous capital city.

Conclusion

What makes these three travel apps to India great is that they all are feature rich, offer offline capabilities, and work well with each other. Each of the cities and places to visit they focus on complement each other well and will help you lay out a great trip plan to the nation of India. Mumbai, Delhi and Agra are all great places with rich histories and monuments that you will want to check out in the country.
