Halfway up the western side of the state near the town of Marshall, about an hour and a half west of Indianapolis, Turkey Run was Indiana´s second state park, established in 1916. Its 2,382 acres include gorges and forests which offer fantastic hiking as well as tubing/canoeing/kayaking down Sugar Creek. Other features include a couple of houses on the National Register of Historic Places, the Lusk Home and Mill Site and the Lieber Log Cabin; covered bridges; a nature center/planetarium; an equestrian facilities offering trail rides; tennis courts; a public pool; and for overnighting, cabins, campsites, and an inn with a restaurant and an indoor pool.
