The Putangirua pinnacles are very unique stone and aggregate ''concretions'' that started forming approx 25,000years agoAscene for Sir Peter Jackson's ''LORD OF THE RINGS''.was shot on location here. The entrance to the PUTANGIRUA PINNACLES is 10 minutes drive from Palliserbaybb.co.nz This photograph was taken from the ''Look out''.
