This two-story museum showcases the rich archaeology and history of Nubia, an early African cradle of civilization, from the Paleolithic through the ascension of Islam beginning in the mid-7th century, as well as the Greek Orthodox/Coptic Christian kingdom of Makuria, which lasted from the mid-7th to late 15th century. This is a granite statue of Tanutamani, a Pharoah of Egypt and ruler of the Nubian Kingdom of Kush in the 7th century BCE.
