The historic 'inner city' of Paramaribo, Suriname

The colonial core of this country's capital (pop. around 246,000), about 30 hectares (74 acres) in size, dates back to the 17th century and has been listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site because of its "gradual fusions of Dutch architectural influence with traditional local techniques and materials."
