Maître d' on Pl. de Brouckere, Bruxelles

In what seemingly is a back alley in Brussels, is in actuality several blocks of restaurant after restaurant, each with open fronts, or Maître d' s agressively asking the tourists and regulars to enter their establishments.. It is hectic, crowded, and chaotic. The food is average at these places, but the sheer energy here makes it an interesting place to visit.

    I was able to get my hands on two bottles of Westvleteren 12 which were simply to die for. They were deep, malty, and so very complex in flavor. And the back story of the beer made it that much more interesting. Are you familiar with this brew?
  • Interesting pic, Kate! What's your favorite Belgian brew? I still fondly recall my sampling tour there in the 90s.
