The Cooks Islands' laid back capital Avarua

With barely 5,000 residents, this town on Rarotonga's north coast is a friendly, relaxed little spot to chill, plus check out several interesting spots like the Cook Islands' Christian Church, made out of coral and dating from 1853; the Cook Islands Library and Museum; snorkeling the just-offishore, century-old wreck of the Matai; and Perfumes of Rarotonga, specializing in fragrances using local flowers.
