"Hi. Even if i join the groups, i'm still not clear on how this would benefit me. As a policy, we do not take "press trips" or subsidized travel so that is of no interest. Can you explain? Thanks."
FYI, just one other comment, if we may, from another writer just this morning, Jose Garrigo:
This is a great site. Provides a link among tourism/travel writers. Shares other members' experiences and comments/answers on questions and problems we all have. Gives ideas about interesting FAM places to go.
Good morning, Barbara! Regardless of positions on press trips, we have many other journalist members who still find the site beneficial for keeping abreast of industry developments and destinations, and well as contact with other journalists and industry figures, including some they may have not been previously familiar with. It's proven valuable to these folks as another platform for exchanging information and views, opinions and queries. We hope you'll agree!
Good morning, Barbara, and welcome to Tripatini! Great to have you with us -- and we think you'll find our site productive as well as interesting and enjoyable.
To get the most out of us, you may want to take a moment to join several of our many other groups which you may find of particular interest, such as Hotels/Motels, Resorts Corner, Bed and Breakfasts/Inns/Pensions, Airfares/Air Travel, Business Travel, Eating/Drinking the World, Wine Tourism, and plenty of others covering many topics and most destinations across the the globe.
FYI, on your profile you'll see a green bar marked "Text Box," which you can turn into a box containing not just text but also photos and even videos about yourself, your interests, your travels, and your USA Today work.
Finally, if you would, please be so kind as to spread the word among your travel-interested friends, family, colleagues, associates, and readers. It's fast and easy to use our "INVITE" function above left on the navigation bar to enter e-mails (even your whole list at once!). If you have any opportunity to cover us for USA Today, that would of course be much appreciated, and if you're interested in occasionally blogging for us, guidelines/rates are available upon request.
Thanks for joining us, Barbara; we wish you an outstanding rest of 2009 and look forward to seeing you online.
