Agra is a city in the state of Uttar Pradesh of India. It is known for the Mughal Forts very much. Not only the Forts, but also the monuments made by the Mughal rulers are very famous here. Here we are discussing the tombs in Agra. Earlier I thought how I could prefer visiting the tombs of Agra on same day Agra tour by car in the name of tourist places! But when I gave it a second thought, I realized that these tombs actually represent the love and dedication for the one who passed away. The guide also supported my thought and therefore I decided to visit the marvelous structures in the names of tombs of Agra. Besides, one very important detail that everyone misses on is that all the tombs have been built white inside the monument and there is a mosque in the main monument. So, I am writing about the 2 major tombs of Agra. I will continue writing about the other ones too.

Akbar’s Mausoleum

Akbar passed away in 1605. Akbar was the best king of India and was the favorite of the Indian masses out of all the Mughal rulers. He was the one who exempted the Hindus from giving tax to the government for going to their Hindu pilgrimage site. The actual name of Akbar was Abu’l-Fath Jalal-Ud-Din. When he exempted the Indians from paying the taxes, the name, Akbar the Great was given to him by the Hindus. Surprisingly the Tomb of Akbar was designed by Akbar himself. It is not a big deal because it was a custom at that time. However, he could not complete it. His son Jahangir completed it. There are wonderful pavilions and Chatris. The golden words were written over there are - “These are the Gardens of Eden, enter them to dwell eternally”.

It is located in Sikandra, Agra, and Uttar Pradesh. The time to visit the Akbar's tomb is from 06:00 A.M. to 06:00 P.M. One can stay inside for a round.

Tomb of I’timād-ud-Daulah

The Tomb of I’timād-ud-Daulah is also called as the Jewel box. It looks quite similar to the Taj Mahal. It is often Koirala draft of the Taj Mahal. Some people also call it “Bacha Taj”. There are several outbuildings and Gardens. This Tomb was made for Mirza Ghias Beg, the father of Noor Jahan. Noor Jahan was the wife of Jahangir. Jahangir was the son of Akbar. There are ornamental gateways with amazing loans in the middle of the north and south direction of the Tomb area. There are various buildings of red sandstone with designs inlaid in white marble boldly. There are Shallow water channels. These water channels are sunken the middle of the Pathways. The Pathways are paid by stones and raised a little. The water channels have intermittent tanks and cascades. This kind of structure divides the garden into 4 equal parts.

It is located on State Highway 39, Moti Bagh, Etmadpur, Agra, UP. You may visit it for around 2 hours from 06:00 A.M. to 06:00 P.M.
