“Musical Promenade: An Evening of Music, Fashion & Revelry”, NYC

9008920081?profile=original

Elegant evening of Classical Music & High Fashion in support of our new Cultural Initiative, the "Arts Circle" in a beautiful NYC Mansion. Musical Promenade will lead you through the iconic piano composition "Pictures at an Exhibition" by Modest Mussorgsky, as we showcase a collection of evening gowns by Vera Wang, Ulla Maija, Oscar de la Renta and Lela Rose - courtesy of our friend Geraldine Brower, President of "The Bridal Garden". In addition, we will feature a special guest Abigail Vona and her hand painted silk batik dresses, literally  the "Walking Pictures", creating a perfect connection to our musical "Pictures at an Exhibition".

7:00 pm– Registration and Cocktails

7:30 pm – Musical Promenade

8:30 pm – Reception and Silent Auction

Gourmet French Hors d'oeuvres presented by RM Prestige

9:30 pm – Results of Silent Auction

Venue: The Kosciuszko Foundation, 15 East 65 St, NYC. Attire: Fun, Festive and Fashionable

Enjoy this magical evening as you listen to Elena Baksht perform the majestic "Pictures at an Exhibition" and see Rebecca Landrith, Miss Manhattan finalist and featured "American It Girl" and other models, walk Mussorgsky's most unusual (and unforgettable) Musical promenade in an atmosphere of old world elegance and sophistication.

When Mussorgsky originally composed "Pictures at an Exhibition", he had in mind an imaginary tour through a private art collection in St. Petersburg, Russia.  Coinciding with the upcoming New York Fashion Week and Valentine’s Day weekend, our modern-day "Pictures at an Exhibition" will offer the opportunity not only to relive for an evening the artistic milieu that Mussorgsky envisioned but also to shake off the winter blues, reconnect with old friends, make new acquaintances, as you enjoy this beautiful evening!

This will be the inaugural event for our new cultural initiative the "Arts Circle". Unlike the square – where every angle is clear and straight, creating clearly defined places – the circle is a symbol of unity, a place where boundaries are fused and differences fade away. Similar to Musical Promenade, each of the programs of  the "Arts Circle" will create a platform to unite different art forms in order to tell a story and reveal new cultural horizons for our audiences.

The Arts Circle is pioneered by Elena Baksht, an award winning , internationally acclaimed pianist and educator, cited by the Washington Post as "the pianist with a magic touch" and "one of the most intriguing pianists of her generation" by Miami Sun Post. She is a founding Director of Southampton Arts Festival, www.southamptonartsfestival.org , and Music at Lincoln Center.

Suggested Contribution:

Ticket  with a special gift - CD of Tchaikovsky concerto # 1 Barcelona Symphony, Conductor Lawrence Foster, Pianist Elena Baksht. Ticket at the door (RSVP required) $50. Advanced online sale $45. The theme for this year's Gala is “Paper Dreams: Writing New Runways”. It is an homage to the aspirations our students work to realize daily, that will see them stand at the forefront of the fashion industry of the future. Everyone’s success stems from a dream. As young, starry-eyed hopefuls, our students have all their dreams written down on pieces of paper, which are the incubators of their talent and ultimate success. As their dreams translate to reality, they will become the ones who change the way runways present to consumers of fashion. Be it business, production, marketing, public relations or design, their dreams will dictate the future of fashion. Therefore, our 2014 theme pays homage to the dreams they have put down on paper as they will it to fruition and write new runways for the future.
