You pack a nice picnic basket...maybe some good Parma ham and smoked Gouda to go with your light lunch...head out into the countryside. Miles of rolling green vineyards stretch out before you. A quaint little shack with the sign "Wine Tasting - Open" up on the hilltop beckons.
"This is the way to buy wine," you say to yourself. Sampling the handcrafted goods, negotiating with the winemaker for a deal, borrowing a couple of wine glasses to have one of the bottles you just bought with your picnic on the hill...
Except you walk in and are immediately overwhelmed by the large crowd, the loud live music, and the exhorbitant price to sample the wine. Oh yeah...don't even think about applying that fee to your purchase...
What's going wrong with wine tourism today? We explore that theme, and more, at The World on Wheels today in our new report: http://tinyurl.com/arexf8j
