Stargazing in Utah's Arches National Park

by Vickie Griggs/Comphoppers The sun was shining, the sky a beautiful cloudless bright blue as we pulled out of Avon, Colorado. heading toward  Moab, Utah to camp in the beautiful desert near Arches National Park (making one stop for extra camping equipment, expecting chilly evenings as we did). As we got closer the traffic picked up - hmm, unusual for a Thursday, we thought. And then we got the bad news: It was a school holiday weekend in Utah. Great, who'd have thought all the campgrounds would be full on a weekday this time of the year? Anyway, after picking up an information sheet listing the campgrounds in the area, we started searching for any available spot - and got lucky, ending up with a prime location right on the Colorado River...  keep reading
