Hi All!
Probably the majority of you think the places worth visiting in Turkey are its big cities like Istanbul, Izmir, and Ankara. But in reality, the true beauty of Turkey lies in its far-flung rural places. So, I am going to share one of the most alluring rural areas of Turkey here.
Let's begin:
Kaş — Kas is a very beautiful town in southwestern Turkey. You can call it a hidden gem that offers access to beaches, restaurants, the coastline, and much more. You can find it away from city life, as Kaş might remain untouched due to its remote location, a two-and-a-half-hour journey from the nearest airport. Still, it's a real gem, and I'd go back every summer, no matter how tricky the journey, even by donkey if needed.
Sanlıurfa — Sanlıurfa, also known as Urfa, is one of the most ancient places in eastern Turkey. Although you can't call it a village, this area is worth visiting. This province allows you to explore historic sites such as Barutcu Han tea shops, Abraham's Cave, Reji Kilisesi, backstreets, and much more. Actually, I decided to add this place in list after watching Sevdiğim Sensin a Turkish dizi. This place gives you a complete sense of Middle Eastern culture, similar to that of Morocco.
Alaçatı — Only an hour from Izmir, Alaçatı is a picturesque network of narrow streets and brightly painted stone homes. The town center is packed with charming boutique hotels, lovely cafés, high-end shops, and restaurants. A quick drive leads to several beaches that have long been a favorite for windsurfers. You will enjoy it if you are drawn to vibrant town life with a touch of city buzz.
Selimiye — As part of Muğla Province, Selimiye lies on a serene bay, where the water is as still as a lake and the surrounding coves are beautifully clear, making it a top stop for Blue Cruisers. The region makes it a perfect retreat year-round, especially in spring, when almond blossoms cover the area in white.
