Photography Camp – Maramures area
Theme: The changing of the traditional village
What is happening to the local cultures and civilizations in the context of the European Union?
In large, it is the same process everywhere in Europe, with some particularities
depending on the features of the local culture.
Maramures is a region where the changes seem more dramatic, and are very obvious, as the civilization of the 3rd millennium is taking over a way of life which has remained the same since the 18th & 19th century.
And what a better way to capture this phenomenon than pictures?
The photography course is dedicated to beginners who are interested in improving their technique and, at the same time, in discovering a different culture and analyzing a situation present in different forms, all over Europe.
Participants will make a project on a certain theme and will prepare some
photos for the little brochure edited at the end of the course.
The program is organized in cooperation with a professional photographer: www.atelierphoton.ro
Day 1 – arrival in Cluj and transfer by car/minibus to the small Breb village, one of the most authentic, best preserved traditional villages in Maramures.
Day 2, 3, 4 – Breb
A few hours in the morning on theoretical courses, held by our professional photographer. Then, practical work in and around the village.
In the evening discussions and analysis of the day.
Day 5, 6, 7 – Ieud
In the morning of day 5, transfer to Ieud village. Ieud is among the biggest villages in Maramures, with 4200 inhabitants, and has been a cradle for the local culture, evidently more opened than other communities towards
the exterior. Today Ieud is facing huge changes.
The same structure for each day as in Breb.
The last day will be for summarizing & conclusions and for the selection of the pictures in the brochure.
