SunnyRentals.com, a holiday home rental company, has demonstrated through an online price comparison study that ski holiday-makers will save on average 58% on their accommodation costs by renting a chalet or apartment rather than a hotel this ski season.
The study compared average hotel prices at various European ski destinations from leading hotel booking portals for a 7 night stay for 3 couples (6 people), with the self-catering chalets and apartments available for rent on its own website.
The cost differential may appear staggering to many people. For example, the average cost of 3 basic double rooms in a St Moritz hotel for 7 nights in January was €6255 compared with an average cost of €2600 for renting a chalet or apartment to sleep 6 adults.
The cheapest per night room cost per person in a hotel was €41 compared with €24 per night in a holiday rental apartment.
In addition to the cost saving, staying in your own rented chalet or apartment has a range of other benefits, such as having more space and freedom, greater privacy and a more cosy atmosphere for a ski holiday with family and friends. Not to mention that guests pay no extra charges for incidentals.
Many chalets and apartments come equipped with better ski equipment storage and wet areas than hotels, relaxing areas with sofas, internet access, sauna and full kitchen facilities.
That's not to say that holiday rental chalets and apartments in the snow are all inexpensive. The more well-heeled guests will find plenty of reasons to stay inside by renting one of the chalets on SunnyRentals.com list of top 7 Luxury Ski Chalets and Apartments.
