As a new member of Tripatini I am doing what I do when joining any new networking group. And that's to introduce myself.

I am Ashley Gibbins and I am CEO of the International Travel Writers Alliance (www.itwalliance.com).

I guess some Tripatini members will know about the Alliance and be members of it. But we always welcom new members be they professional travel writers, editors, broadcasters or photographers.

There is no cost to join.

Just visit www.itwalliance.com click to enter the site and click on register as a member. It only takes a couple of minutes and you will then receive information from us for as long as you find it of value.

The more members we get the more the Alliance will be able to support you who do join with press trips, information on our partners and their agencies with media contacts, networking events and marketing opportunities.

You might also want to look at AllWays : www.allwaystraveller.com, which is the consumer travel service from the Alliance.

You can always email me at ashley@itwalliance.com.

Happy for you to pass on this information to other travel writers you know.

I hope this helps.

And though I may live to regret it, I would welcome any comments anyone might have on the Alliance.

Many thanks

Ashley

Thanks for the reply. Most useful.

Re the press trips. You are right that until now the majority of our listings have tended to come from UK agencies (although we are now getting a great deal more interest from North American partners and agencies).

Moreover, all media contacts we show have said they are happy to hear from travel journalists worldwide and will either handle the enquiry themselves or pass them on to the appropriate media representative.

I will make this fact alot clearer in the bulletin from now on.

    I hope this helps.

    Many thanks

    Ashley

Ashley, you do a nice job with your newsletter (the events listings are especially useful), but the PR announcements and press-trip listings seem to be geared to UK-based writers, in much the same way that announcements on MediaKitty, Writersmarketplace.com, and Travelwriters.com tend to be U.S.-centric.
