An hourlong ferry ride south of St. Vincent, the archipelago´s second largets island (seven square miles, pop. around 5,000) is also one of its most popular destinations, yet never feels crowded. Admiralty Bay (pictured here) is one of the Caribbean´s prettiest and home to the island´s largest village, Port Elizabeth - and its beaches (such as Princess Margaret, Freindship Bay, and Ravine Bay) are some of the Caribbean´s best. On the history heritage front, check out the Bequia Heritage Museum and the Spring Plantation, dating back to the 18th century. There are also many inns and small hotels (no huge resorts), and plenty of restaurants, shops, and activities on land and sea.
