  • Senior discounts? You betcha.
  • Ah, therein lies the rub. I'm a baby boomer and a grandma, and I'm still surprised that my daughters are older than me. ;-) But I agree that my pet peeve is that everyone (said in general) assumes that baby boomer = old with no mobility. I'm just a young grandmom enjoying my grandkids. If I get a discount along the way, well, hello and thank you very much! P.S. I am the Traveling Grandmom blogger at TravelingMom.com if you want to read about my adventures there. Twitter @dianarowe Have a great day!
  • Allan, some states require all adults to be carded. What's really bad is when the waiter or clerk apologizes for having to ask you. As if to say, "Yes, I know you're really old but the law made me check your age." :-)

I take the discounts and don't worry one bit about it. I'm going to celebrate where I am in life no matter what ages that happens to be.
  • Yep - we always have to come back down!
  • It's an odd world. I went to a trendy little alternative nightclub with a business colleague and one of his employees and was carded!! I didn't understand what the guy at the door was asking. He had to repeat it several times. When I told a friend in the UK, he wrote back, 'You must have been over the #$@!ing moon!'

Two months later in Wales I qualified for a discounted train ticket.
  • I take the discounts when I can get 'em even though it grates. What grates even more is when they take my word for it - they could have the decency to ask for id! (it would at least make me feel better).
  • To rephrase Donna Hull's pertinent point, boomers are not even old enough to get most senior discounts.
  • Have to agree with Donna, but also know how lucky we are to be blessed with good health! My age is a surprise to me - I'm 62 and hate saying it because I can hardly believe it and because it does peg you in some ways in peoples minds. Anyway, my first trip abroad is this week - Wales and Kenya here I come!
