Up in the dense dense forests of the volcanic Virungas range in the country's live about a third of the world’s approximately 800 remaining endangered mountain gorillas, and carefully controlled trekking tours to see them are a mainstay of Rwandan tourism - and for ecotourism lovers, definitely bucket list territory.
