Fall foliage deal offered at New Hampshire and Maine lodges & huts

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 23, 2010

The Appalachian Mountain Club’s (AMC) lodges and huts are located in some of New England’s most spectacular natural settings, surrounded by forests, hiking trails, and ponds vibrantly transformed by the turning fall colors.

Starting September 1, 2010 and throughout the peak fall foliage season, the AMC is offering all-inclusive “stay 2 nights, get the 3rd free” lodging savings. This deal is available at all of the AMC’s northern New England lodges and White Mountain huts, Sunday through Friday.

Leaf peepers and outdoor enthusiasts have five AMC lodges to choose from, including locations in New Hampshire’s White Mountains and Lakes Region and Maine’s Moosehead Lake Region. The AMC’s hut hiking system adds even more options, providing opportunities for lodge-to-hut or hut-to-hut trips to stay overnight in the backcountry. Many of the huts offer full service until mid-October with hut crews preparing meals and offering naturalist programs. At the AMC’s Maine Wilderness Lodges, the second half of September is also a peak time for fly fishing, and wild,
native brook trout are the big draw.

For foliage hikes, the AMC’s top fall picks at its destinations range from nature walks and low-impact hikes to challenging ascents:

    • Elephant Head: easy hike to outlook of Crawford Notch
