Now until June 6, 2012, guests who book two nights in a deluxe guest room for £299 (approximately $480) receive a third night for only £60 (approximately $96). The Jubilee Package, third night for £60 is also available on the hotel’s Superior rooms as well. Those rates start at £220 (approximately $357). Preferential rates for hotel suites are also available. As always, guests at The athenaeum enjoy complimentary drinks, snacks and coffee from the mini-bar, free Wi-Fi, and kids under 12 eat free when dining with an adult. AFTERNOON-TEA PICNIC HAMPERS ESPECIALLY DESIGNED IN CELEBRATION OF THE QUEEN’S DIAMOND JUBILEE
Guests staying at the athenaeum this summer will be at the heart of one of the largest street parties in London, taking place on Piccadilly. The hotel’s pastry chefs have designed special afternoon tea picnic hampers for guests to order. It’s stocked with a selection of traditional finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones (served with Regents Park honey and homemade raspberry jam), lemon meringue and slices of Victoria Sponge cake, in homage to the only other English monarch who has reigned for 60 years. Carry this beautifully packaged and hand-delivered tea hamper to “The Big Jubilee Lunch” or enjoy a picnic in one of the three surrounding Royal Parks.

The athenaeumʼs head chef and his team have produced an afternoon tea menu that is fit for a Queen. Treats on offer include a selection of traditional English finger sandwiches along with a special Coronation chicken and cucumber sandwich, freshly baked scones and toasted crumpets all served with Regents Park honey and rich Devonshire clotted cream. Cakes include a Victoria Sponge, a selection of jubilee cupcakes and red, white and blue macaroons.
