9th Annual Pies on Parade, Rockland’s Pie Tour to celebrate National Pie Day, January 27, 2013
Rockland, ME, dubbed “Pie Town USA” by the Food Network when Bobby Flay visited for a pie throwdown, will live up to its name when the 9th annual pie-a-thon to celebrate National Pie Day gets underway on January 27, 2013. The whole town of Rockland, ME will go pie-crazy from 1:00 – 5:00pm when the Historic Inns of Rockland are joined by Rockland, ME businesses and restaurants to welcome hungry pie eaters to the town for the 9th Annual Pies on Parade Pie Tour. A fundraiser for the local Area Interfaith Outreach Food Pantry, this event has raised more than $50,000 over it’s 9-year tenure, contributing enough to feed 100 hungry families for year after year and attracting a crowd from throughout the country.
While sweet pies take center stage, the 20 participating venues collectively offer 50 varieities of savory pies, featuring everything from pizza pies to Shepherd’s Pie, Whoppee Pies and even a few healthy pies! Guests of the Historic Inns of Rockland are treated to some exclusive pie tastings including a wine and pie pairing.
