Austrian Airlines Vacation Center's Christmas Market Vacation Package Combines Salzburg and Vienna Christmas Markets

October 20, 2011, Atlanta, Georgia – “This season, come to the ‘old country’ to make new holiday memories,” invites Bram Majtlis, president of Austrian Airlines Vacation Center. The Atlanta-based company recently announced a special Christmas Market vacation package in Austria, including three nights in Salzburg and two nights in Vienna, valid for travel between November 14 and December 14, 2011.  

Starting in the middle of November, traditional Christmas Markets with their small wooden stalls filled with toys, candles, garlands and specialty foods pop up all over Austria. In the month before Christmas, Austria’s air is fragrant with the delicious smells of traditional pastries, gluhwein and roasted chestnuts. Its charming cities and romantic towns sparkle with millions of lights and extravagant decorations.  “The holiday season is a delightful time of the year in Europe, and this package makes a great early Christmas gift – also to yourself!” notes Majtlis.

At $1,459 per person, double occupancy from New York (JFK) or Newark (EWR), the five-night, six-day Christmas Market vacation package includes:

  • Roundtrip economy class air transportation between the US and Salzburg with one stopover in Vienna en route to or from Salzburg;
  • Three (3) nights hotel accommodation in Salzburg (Hotel Neutor****);
  • Roundtrip transfer between the Salzburg airport and the hotel in Salzburg;
  • Half-day city sightseeing tour of Salzburg, the city of Mozart;
  • Salzburg Christmas Market Passport, including a special sandwich, one drink (with or without alcohol) and a souvenir mug;
  • Two (2) nights hotel accommodation in Vienna (Hotel Rathauspark****)
  • Daily buffet breakfast, hotel service charges and hotel taxes.

In addition to this Christmas Market vacation package, Austrian Airlines Vacation Center offers a variety of other vacation packages (called City Steals and Combo City Steals) this winter and beyond. 

Package Validity and Rates:

Travel is available for travel between November 14 and December 14, 2011. Rates are $1,459 from New York (JFK) or Newark, $1,539 from Washington DC (IAD), $1,579 from Atlanta, and $1,679 from Miami, Chicago (ORD) or Los Angeles. The single supplement is $250. Weekend surcharges apply. Extension nights and upgrades are available upon request.

All packages need to be booked at least 14 days in advance. Payment in full is required within 24 hours of confirmation. Once confirmed, the packages are non-refundable, non-transferable, and cannot be changed. Packages will be booked in economy class and are subject to schedule and space availability. Your minimum stay is 3 nights or one Saturday overnight, and your maximum stay in Europe is 30 days. The Coffee, Culture & Klimt Vacation package prices include fuel surcharges but do not include US Customs / INS / Aphis fees / International Transportation Tax / Passenger Facility Charges / Civil Aviation Security Fee / domestic and foreign Security and Airport Charges of approximately USD $185 - $260 per passenger, depending on the itinerary. Additional taxes and fees may be collected by foreign governments.  All taxes / fees / surcharges are subject to change and exchange rate fluctuations and may vary on the day of booking.

Salzburg's “Christkindlmarkt

Traditional Christmas market in the beautiful Cathedral Square and Residence Square, with stalls, shops and buskers. Frequent performances by traditional Salzburg choirs and children's school groups. Salzburg’s Archbishop opens the traditional Christmas market on the first Saturday of Advent.

 

Vienna City Hall - Christmas Market

This famous Christmas Market is located in the park facing Vienna's City Hall. For the last 700 years, this Market situated in the heart of festive Vienna has been the focal point of Austria's Advent season. Decorated trees create a lovely winter wonderland where fairy-tale scenes enchant children and grown-ups. Don't leave without tasting "Punch & Schmalzbrot," a typical Viennese snack.  

 

Schoenbrunn Palace Christmas Market

Austrian handicrafts and other original gifts can be found here right outside the Hapsburg Summer Place in Vienna, such as handmade Christmas decorations, mangers and organic toys.  Choirs, brass bands and other music ensembles perform carols on the stage in front of a giant Christmas tree.

 

Christmas Village at Belvedere Palace in Vienna

The Belvedere, one of Europe's most beautiful baroque palaces, features two major art museums – so visitors can celebrate Austria’s famous artist Gustav Klimt’s 150th birthday in combination with a fun visit to the Christmas Market in front of the palace!  A traditional carousel makes this Christmas Market even more memorable.
