Commerce Secretary Gary Locke has announced a 47 percent surge in the travel and tourism trade surplus in 2010; the surplus now exceeds $28 billion. Does that favorable gap between what foreign visitors spend here and what Americans spend abroad exist because our domestic attractions are so grand or because most Americans lack curiosity about other countries?
