Palau more actively pushing high-end ecotourism

Skift recently came out with a piece about how Palau is trying to make itself a pristine ecotourism destination for the upscale travel market, for example with a recent law limiting foreigners in investing in luxury tourism projects with their own infrastructure but also providing tax breaks and exemptions.   • Although it's from three years ago, this interesting look at tourism in Palau from global business-news channel Quartz is still relevant today, in terms of how it balances the benefits (providing half of the country's GDP) with the pressures on the local environment from a volume of visitors (especially from China) that by far outnumbers Palau's own population.
