On an isolated Strait of Hormuz peninsula in Oman's northernmost province, and accessible by boat only, this five-century-old fishing village of around 1,400 is singular not only in that its inhabitants have their own culture and language (akin to Farsi/Persian, mixed with influences from Arabic and several other languages) but also in its dramatic setting, the craggy, coast of the Musandam Peninsula, marked by specatcular khors (fjords).
