Prague´s incredible atmospheric Old Jewish Cemetery

Since my first visit in 1991, one of my all-time favorite Jewish sites is the highlight of Old Town Prague´s small Jewish quarter Josefov, dating back to the first half of the 15th century and with more than 12,000 overlapping headstones (Jewish law prohibits taking any out) marking the resting places of more than 100,000 - and all packed into a walled enclosure of 11,000 square meters (118,400 sq. feet/2¾ acres). You buy a combined ticket that includes several surrounding synagogues and sites.
