  • Hi Anil, I publish an India travel blog with a lot of pointers about traveling in India at http://breathedreamgo.com/

I was in Delhi in April and the construction for the games was rampant! I think it will be a bit crazy in Delhi during the games, I would avoid it. Also, the city has an acute shortage of hotel rooms -- and especially reasonably priced, quality hotel rooms.
  • I have friends who've had surgical procedures overseas, to both good and bad effect. Now Lancet, the British medical magazine, has reported that a new superbug that's resistant to antibiotics originated in India, so it might be a bad idea of British patients to visit India for surgery. I wonder how much this will affect medical tourism.
  • What impact is anticipated for tourism and tourists heading to India during the Commonwealth games in New Delhi starting from Oct 3-14 ?

I know that this year Diwali is later in November. I need to advise some folks on a 15 day trip of the Triangle and a bit more. Are there people interested in specific pointers for non-backpack solo travelers ?
  • On another site, someone's looking for an operator who can satisy the curiosity of a small group. If there is anyone here who is relatively comfortable putting a package together,
  • India has made history in many ways. Pop music with the Beatles was another such event. Join a group of Beatles enthusiasts following the footsteps of the Beatles in India - led by Paul Saltzman author of The Beatles In India Fb 11, 2011. See details - www.bestway.com
  • After having spent four weeks in Feb.touring Delhi,Jaipur,Amritsar, I have a feeling that there is an untapped potential to organize tours around secondary cities of spiritual importance. In Amritsar I noticed many tourist flocking to Golden Temple. Mixing Architectural/Spiritual with culinary experience for secondary cities would appeal to second time visitors who took the initial Delhi-Agra-Jaipur trip.
  • This week our blog covers the majestic, one-of-a-kind city of Udaipur -- along with the issue of the water level in Lake Pichola. Check it out!

  • The reduction of total seat capacity/weekly for inbound international started happening since early Fall '09. DL stopped their US/BOM non-stop on 777-LR, AY suspended their HEL-BOM route. And a few others suspended route-pairs to other airports. Now we see a kind of increased influx of traffic to the kumbh mela, the consequence of which is felt by some of us who now find upgrades and upgradeable inventory become non-existent.
  • Given that visa-on-arrival has begun for 5 countries; it would behoove a resilient Tour operator to combine a package of Buddhist historical sites in India to Japanese tourists. In the past, the visa issues filtered out on-the-spur as well as casual tourists to India.
