The curator has been camping out for two weeks using only Civil War-era gear, despite snow and cold and general misery. Have any of you been following this? And if so, did you expect him to survive out there for two weeks? http://bit.ly/bXlduW

William, I posted this on February 19th. The curator had been at it for a couple of days at that point, but then we went into a period of really deep freezes (down to near 0) and thigh-high snows. He survived, but jeez, it was an ordeal. Of course, you are right about the fact that three million men survived the Civil War. I'm not sure I would've been one of them.

Actually I do expect him to survive. Many of the re-enactors that I have come across have really good period equpiment. Of course some good survival skills like starting a fire and cooking even at primitive levels. (Beans are beans!) And of course common sense prevails. After all three million men did survive the war so I think he can too and no one is shooting at him !
