  The hiking season is just staring up here in northern Finland and I can't wait to get back out on the bear trail (karhunkierros) again this year.

   

  The Karhunkierros, or Bear Trail, is an 80km long hike through the Oulanka National Park and the most famous of all the Kuusamo and Ruka hiking trails.

   

  The Oulanka National Park is the most popular national park in Finland, attracting almost 180,000 visitors every year and is well known for its diverse habitat, unique landscape and the variety of species that inhabit the park, from birds and animals to flora.

  The Arrabida National Park is home to the best hiking trail in the vicinity of Lisbon, and its a mere 5 minutes drive from the city of Setubal. The trailhead is located about 100 feet down the road from the Convento da Arrabida.
