How Princess Cruises is servIng up innovative dining

The exclusive dining experience on the Princess Discovery is unlike any other I have been a part of during my travels. "360: An Extraordinary Experience" is dining immersion making one feel like you’re sitting in the Greek countryside with olive trees or smelling the fragrance of lavender in the south of France. Thanks to Princess Cruises, I savored this time with fellow bloggers. I immediately became captivated with the experience when I heard beautiful music played by two violinists and…

Bon appétit, Seychelles-style

MelanieMaya This archipelago´s cuisine blends various aspects of French, Chinese, Indian and African influences, and not surprisingly, seafood – fish, octopus (above) and shellfish – plays a major role.  Spices that abound here include coriander, ginger, and lemongrass, and other common elements include coconut milk and fruit like tamarind and papaya. Seafood is prepared baked, curried, grilled, salted, smoked, steamed, and wrapped in banana leaves, and invariably served with rice. One…

  • Most of traditional guide books write about food as an after thought. Only once I came upon a series on Word Food, by Lonely planet. I truly enjoyed those books which focussed on a cuisine of a country at a time.
  • There's an interesting article in the New York Times on eating sushi in Barcelona and Japanese cuisine's appeal to Catalans. (One of Ferrán Adrià's favorite restaurants in Barcelona is Japanese.) See

  • I cover Food and Restaurants for my regular publications, and of course, in every Travel story I produce there is a mention or a rave review about great places to eat and wonderfully creative chefs. Check out my blog, Art and Entertain Me at: www.artandentertainme.blogspot.com
  • Interesting item just appeared in Gadling, re the "safest" ethnic food in the U.S. Answer: Korean (I would also add Ethiopian).

  • Food in Asia-I've an assignment where I need to get information on different Asian celebrations for the Chinese New Year. I need regional recipes tied into the celebrations with credits for the chef/property and dish history, jpgs are desirable. The article will be on a site that gets 1.6 million visitors a month to food page and will be introduced in a mailing to 250,000 subscribers. If you represent any properties that can assist with this, I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
  • In regard to a post on beer in this group and an advert concerning a book on whisk(e)y I saw, I came across today news of the first whisky to be produced in England for more than a century. It is a single malt, probably quite obviously, and is distilled in Norfolk. I'm a little confused, because the news report attached said that it had been in casks for three years, when whisky generally does not see the light of day before 10. Having once—and once!—had a seven-year-old, this confuses me.

  • Actually Gourmet magazine had lost critical mass of devoted food lovers, specially the traveling types (I did) Since lots of collective knowledge and discovery and adventure was coming online...
  • RE: It would be fascinating to hear the reaction of some of the foodies in here (at least among the Yank contingent) to the big news this week: the announced shuttering of Gourmet magazine... C'est la vie! Go online now! Make Tripatini the new Gourmet! Challenge to the foodies.
