Scandinavia is one of the undersung gems of Europe as a visitor destination, and even here, Finland still ranks behind Denmark, Sweden, and Norway in visitor numbers. But I'm here to tell you that from what I've experienced of the towns, cities, and countryside of this unique country with an impenetrable language but lovely (and largely English-speaking) people and landscapes. The summer in particular is a treat, when the sun stays up and parties till after midnight - sometimes barely dipping below the horizon - and a buttery glow seems to infuse everything.
