This country is home to some 40 institutions of higher education, including eight universitie, five technological universities, and several institues and colleges. And it´s ranked number six in the world in terms of the quality of its system of higher education, with high standards of academic excellence, student satisfaction, and post-graduation employment prospects. And as such, Ireland attracts tens of thousands of foreign students each year; the most recent published figure is nearly 45,000 for the 2024/2025 academic year, up ten percent from the previous year, and it´s estimated that as many as 10,000 of these receive some degree of scholarship support, from partial to full.
