Watching chariot races at Rome´s Circus Maximus

More than 2,000 feet long and nearly 400 feet wide, and able to accommodate some 150,000 spectators, the Circus Maximus between the Palatine and Aventine Hills was where the famed ancient Roman chariot races took place for centuries. These days, in addition to hosting concerts and other events and celebrations, the Circus also sometimes is the site of recreated races.
