The pilot retirements come from some of the older pilots in the airline, meaning all the younger pilots get bumped up in seniority. AMR isnt going bankrupt either, but they do have serious problems. In my opinion, draconian measures dont need to be applied yet, however, if any union bashing happens, I'm all for it. Also, AA isnt suffering from a pilot shortage either, and I honestly think these retirements are a good thing in general.
