For those who daydreamed through their high school Spanish vocab, el ganso means "the goose." El Ganzo tweaked with a z is also the name of Los Cabos’ newest 72-room Preferred Boutique waterfront hotel which bespeaks of its distinctive long, white, sinewy exterior designed by HKS Architects.
Situated at the base of the Puerto Los Cabos marina on a fisherman's wharf overlooking the Sea of Cortez, all rooms and suites have limitless ocean views with access to one of Cabo’s only swimmable beaches. On the rooftop, Bali daybeds and a sushi bar surround the perimeter of El Ganzo's 2,013 square foot infinity pool and accompanying glass-walled Jacuzzi.
When it comes to dining, many ingredients are sourced from the hotel’s very own weekly farmer’s market fueling their 3 onsite restaurants serving sustainable, farm-to-table cuisine and fish caught fresh just outside. Dinner menus showcase entrees like lion paw scallops with cauliflower puree and Tlacoyo de Pollo (chicken with corn milk, refried beans, cactus slices, Mexican Cotija cheese and Pasilla chili sauce ). Their housemade churros are the quintessential dessert choice.
Ganzo de Playa, the property’s beach club, serves its own unique menu, including salads, Baja-style fish and lobster tacos, ceviches and their signature shrimp hamburger. Ganzo Downstairs is the hotel’s culinary heart. Outfitted with handcrafted wood tables and two fireplaces set within an expansive stone wall, breakfasts include freshly squeezed juices, chilaquiles (housemade tortillas served with eggs, onions and fresh Panela cheese).
Perhaps El Ganzo’s most unique feature is their Artist in Residence program. A state-of-the-art 1700 square foot recording studio, dubbed "The Underground," is only accessible via a "trap door" in the lobby floor.
