After a wintering in the Bahamas, the Boatel re-opens for another season at Toronto's Harbourfront Centre June 1st for its 6th year of operation. For more details see www.boatel.ca

So often we are asked questions about the concept of the Boatel. I will try answer the FAQ?

Question: How many Boatels are there?

Answer: There are about a dozen Boat Bed & Breakfast in North America. We are the only one in Toronto.

Question: Why would someone want to stay on a Boat?

Answer: Have you ever walked past a marina and wondered who lived on those boats or what it would be like to live on a boat? That is who we target. Those who want to experiece living on a boat for a day, a weekend or a week.

Question: Where do you go with the boat?

Answer: No where. We are docked - a floating bed & breakfast

  • We are the only one that I know of that use the "Boatel" name. Others use "dockside bed & breakfast" or "bed & brekafast afloat" Their are a couple in Boston, Golden Slipper being the oldest Boat B & B that I know of that has been around for 17 years. One in Martha's Vineyard, one in Lake Worth, Florida called Knot SoFast. One in Tennesse. Some offer cruises and a few of us are just "floaters". A google search will yield a list of most of them. Let me know if you need more info.
  • This has actually given me an idea to do a round-up of boatel B&B's.  Any idea of what some of the others are?
